Being a single woman, I’ve learned that my kitchen table can be anything I want it to be—a fine dining experience, a test kitchen, or just a place to play with flavors I’ve loved since I was a little girl. One night, I decided to treat myself to something special, and the craving was simple: my two favorite pairings, chocolate and peanut butter.
Ever since I was young, sweet and salty combos have been my love language. That night, I realized that Petals & Pairs was more than just food—it was a practice of pairing life’s little joys. Some weeks, it might be wine with flowers. Other weeks, a full meal with a mocktail. The beauty of being single is that I can make anything and share it with you.
I’ll be honest—these videos aren’t polished. Nobody ever said I was a chef. I’m just a woman who loves to try good things and invite you into the journey. Think of this as a soft beginning, a glimpse into what happens when joy, curiosity, and flavor meet at the table.
So here it is: this week’s combo—Chocolate Peanut Crinkle Cookies & Cousin Jack’s Nightcap. A little sweet, a little bold, just like me.
Here’s to the first of many pairings.
Chocolate Peanut Crinkle Cookies
Soft. Decadent. One bowl. Pantry realness.
Makes 6–8 cookies (because it’s just for you, obviously)
Ingredients:
½ cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ cup sugar
2 tbsp crushed roasted peanuts (or 1 tbsp peanut butter + 1 tbsp chopped peanuts)
3 tbsp neutral oil (or melted butter if you got it)
1 tbsp water
¼ tsp baking powder or soda (optional but helps)
Pinch of salt
Extra sugar for rolling (optional)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a bowl, mix together:
Flour
Cocoa powder
Sugar
Salt
Baking powder/soda (if using)
Stir in oil and water until a soft dough forms.
Fold in peanuts (or peanut butter if using). Dough should be moist but not sticky — add a tiny splash of water if dry.
Roll into small dough balls and roll in sugar for a sweet, sparkly top.
Press lightly with fingers or a fork. Bake on a lined pan for 9–10 minutes.
Let them cool for 5 minutes to firm up.
Optional Vibes:
Sprinkle flaky salt on top
Dip half in melted chocolate if you're feeling seductive
Pair with a little red wine or a bourbon splash on the side
Cousin Jack’s Nightcap”
A smoky, chocolatey, peanut-kissed drink that loves a cookie.
Ingredients (for 1 glass):
2 oz Jack Daniel’s
½ oz simple syrup or a spoon of brown sugar (stir to dissolve)
½ tsp creamy peanut butter (trust me)
1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder or ½ oz chocolate syrup
2 oz oat milk, almond milk, or whole milk
Pinch of cinnamon or sea salt (optional but bougie)
Ice
Directions:
In a shaker or mason jar, add:
Jack Daniel’s
Peanut butter
Cocoa powder (or chocolate syrup)
Simple syrup/sugar
Milk of choice
Shake HARD with ice until frothy and cold. (Like really shake that jar, bestie.)
Strain into a rocks glass over a big cube or sip it neat in a coupe.
Garnish with:
A chocolate-dipped peanut rim
A dusting of cocoa
Or… just serve it with that warm cookie and vibes
Pair It With:
Chocolate Peanut Crinkle Cookies — the bitterness of cocoa, the creaminess of PB, and the warmth of the Jack are a perfect match. It’s sweet without being childish. Strong but comforting. Like an uncle in a velour suit who gives great advice.
